2016 Goals

I know it has been 2016 for two months…but that’s okay! Goals are good, regardless of when they’re set. I still have 83% of the year left!

It’s crazy how that clock keeps on ticking on…sundial shadows still moving along. The beginning of the year was a little rough, with roommate troubles, money troubles, dead cars, friends going off to boot camp, etc., but I feel hopeful for the rest of the year! Cliche as it sounds, I would like to bring more mindfulness to my life. I am a person who likes routine and order, but I haven’t kept routine and order in my life. It has made it easier for stress to permeate my life and keep me from figuring out what I want to achieve and actually achieving those things.

Part One: March – July

This part of the year will have some travel! I will hopefully go to South Carolina and then drive down to Georgia to see Colt’s graduation and then bring him to his job training. I’ll also get to go to Hang Out Fest with a couple of my friends at the end of May and then a wedding in Colorado for another friend in June! I’m pretty psyched, though that will likely be the extent of my travels for the summer.

  • Complete Couch to 10k. I used to run track back when I was in high school, and I am not very coordinated, so I think that is why running has a special place in my heart.
  • Lose ~45 lbs. To do this, I’ll keep logging in My Fitness Pal and calorie cutting.
  • Read. I would like to get through at least 10 books during this first part (20 total) which is approximately 2 books a month.
  • Yoga. I would love to begin practicing again. I want to attend one professional class a month and practice 5 times a week in my own spare room.
  • Save. Have $2000 in my savings account.
  • Learn. Attend community college to bring my GPA up by taking 5 courses.
  • Work. Find a summer job and/or part-time job to supplement my income.
  • Pay Off. Pay off as many debts as I can afford while also saving.

Part Two: August – December

I’m not sure what the 2016-2017 school year will hold for me, but hopefully it will be consistent and positive.

  • Home. Find a place to live when my lease expires in October that will be better and allow me to save more money and live closer to those I care about.
  •  Yoga. I want to increase to attending two professional classes a month and practicing daily on my own
  • Lose ~20 lbs. To do this, I’ll keep logging in My Fitness Pal and calorie cutting.
  • Read. I would like to get through at least 10 books during this first part (20 total) which is approximately 2 books a month.
  • Run. Register and complete two 10k races.
  • Pay Off. Finish paying off debts (excluding student loans).
  • Learn. Apply to a master’s degree to get a teaching certification that would allow me to gain tenure and the freedom to move if necessary.

What about your 2016?
